About
Warrior Refuge
At Warrior Refuge, we believe that healing from trauma is not just possible—it’s a courageous journey that no one should walk alone. Founded by Amanda Barrett, a Life Coach and Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate of Walden University, Warrior Refuge is built on the values of integrity, compassion, and resilience. With specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for over two years, Amanda brings both professional expertise and a deep personal commitment to guiding individuals through recovery.
We proudly serve veterans, active military, first responders, police officers, and all individuals impacted by trauma, recognizing the unique burdens they carry in service to others. Warrior Refuge was created to provide a safe haven—one where strength is honored, stories are heard, and recovery is fostered with respect and dignity.

At Warrior Refuge, we believe that every veteran & first responder can find strength, purpose, and hope in their journey beyond their service. We are dedicated to empowering them to redefine their futures and make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world.
Our Beliefs
We believe in meeting every client where they are, walking alongside them at their pace.
We believe in the power of evidence-based practices, like EMDR, to help release the weight of traumatic experiences.
We believe that resilience is already within you, and our role is to help uncover it.
We believe that recovery is not about perfection, but about progress, empowerment, and reclaiming your life.

Our Vision
Providing a safe, confidential, and supportive environment for healing.
Honoring the courage of those who protect and serve by equipping them with tools to process trauma and build resilience.
Walking the recovery journey side by side, fostering hope, growth, and lasting change.
The Team

Will S.
Will served in the US Army as both a combat engineer and a Russian linguist. After leaving the military, he was barely holding on. Substance abuse, broken relationships, and the weight of his experiences left him isolated, struggling just to get through each day. The support systems that were supposed to help were full of gaps, and there was nowhere to turn that truly understood what he was facing.
Drawing on his extensive experience in corporate leadership, sales, skilled labor and his own personal struggles, he helped start Warrior Refuge to change that. The organization provides trauma-informed care, peer and family support, and assistance coordinating housing, food, transportation, benefits, employment, and whatever curveballs life brings. It meets veterans and first responders where they are, offering the guidance, community, and tools they need not just to survive, but to heal, rebuild, and thrive.
This mission is personal—he has lived it.
No one should have to face these battles alone.
James F.
James is a dedicated board member and Treasurer with over a decade of specialized experience in financial compliance within the Australian government.
A proud military spouse, he brings a unique perspective shaped by service life, strong fiscal discipline, and a deep commitment to supporting non-profit missions that serve families and communities. In his role, James ensures transparent, accountable, and strategic financial oversight that advances the organization’s impact.

Stacey W.
